Orders of Protection
An order of protection is a court order that prohibits a person from coming into contact (usually within 100 yards of) a family or household member who has accused the person of abuse, assault or violence. An order of protection is usualy issued as a temporary restraining order after a person has been accused of domestic violence.
When a person is charged with a crime and the victim is a family member or someone they live with, the alleged abuser is prohibited from contacting or coming into contact with the victim in any way for a minimum of 72 hours. This may be issued as a temporary measure to provide protection to the alleged victim even before formal charges have been filed or a case has gone to court.
If this order of protection is violated, this may also be a violation of the defendant's bail bond.
Orange County bail bond agent Dan Nesser and his staff are familiar with orders of protection and how they relate to bail bonds. If you have an order of protection filed against you, you should understand how that will affect your bail and how violating that order will become a violation of your bail bond.
