Orange County Bail Bonds
Frequently Asked Questions
If you or a loved one has been arrested, you most likely have many questions. We are happy to help you with all of your questions when you contact our offices, but we have also included some common questions and answers below. We hope this helps.
Who decides the amount of bail? The judge is usually who will decide your bail amount. However, because it may take up to several days to see the judge and have your bail amount set, some jails have standard bail amounts for certain common crimes. If this is the case, you can pay the standard amount without seeing the judge first.
Do I need a Bail Bond? That will depend upon your particular situation, but if you or a loved one has a bail amount that is too high to pay personally, you most likely will need a Bail Bond. We will give you advice and information about your specific situation – whether that involves getting a Bail Bond or not.
How much does a Bail Bond cost? The standard price for a Bail Bond is 10% of the total bail amount. Therefore, if bail is set at $15,000, the cost for the Bail Bond will be $1,500. This amount is non-refundable.
Do I need to provide collateral? Not necessarily. It will depend upon the amount of bail, and your specific situation. Usually if the bail amount is very high, collateral will be needed. We will evaluate your case and determine whether collateral is actually necessary.
Do I need to come to your offices to set up a Bail Bond? No, you do not need to come to our offices. We can help you over the phone if you have a fax machine and credit card. We can also come to your home or office (in a discreet, unmarked vehicle) and complete the transaction there.
How long will it take to post bail? It takes approximately 30 minutes to handle the paperwork on our end. Then, depending on the type of prison (state or county) and the amount of prisoners in the prison’s system, release will take anywhere between 1 to 12 hours.
